Evaluación del manejo del carné de crecimiento y desarrollo en niños de O a 5 años en Chimbote

Abstract

Se evaluó el manejo del carné de crecimiento y desarrollo en 200 niños de 0 a 5 años en dos zonas de Chimbote. Se encontraron cuatro modelos del carné y una inadecuada identificación del mismo y de sus objetivos por las madres. El estado de conservación fue mayormente de regular a malo. En los casilleros los datos más omitidos fueron: número, nombre del padre, instrucción, número de historia, lugar de atención, registros de peso, talla y pautas del desarrollo. En la mayoría no se graficaron las curvas de crecimiento y los datos de vacunas de refuerzo y otros eran anotados en lugares distintos. Los establecimientos donde más se omitieron los datos fueron el Hospital La Caleta, Posta de Salud, Maternidad de Maria y el IPSS. Las causas atribuidas a la omisión fueron: no se registró, pérdida o retención del carné, falta de control y huelgas. También se evidenció una deficiente acción educativa con las madres por parte del personal de salud para un adecuado manejo del carné. Por último, se plantearon recomendaciones para un nuevo diseño del carné de crecimiento y desarrollo.

An evaluation toas done in two sections of Chimbote, Peru on the management of the Carnet of Child Growth and Development of the two hundred children ranging from newborn to five years of age. There were four types of carnets in use none of which were adequate or understood by the mothers. The majority of the carnets were in fair or poor condition. The most commonly omitted information was: fathers name, level of education, identification number. Center where the child was being controlled, weight, size and development guidelines. The majority of the carnets were not grafted nor were the curve of growth and development recorded. Vaccinations and Boosters were not recorded. Some notes were made but not in their proper place. The Health Centers that most omitted information or adequately record it were: La Caleta Hospital, Medical Center, Maternity of Maria and the Social Security Hospital. The reasons given for the lack of adequate information and poor management of the Carnet or the Health Care Center keeping the carnet, no control appointments given or strikes. It was also found that there were no or poor education programs for the mother on the part of Health personnel on the care and management Off the carnet. Lastly it was recommended that a new more adequate Carnet of Child Growth and Development be studied and implemented.
