La dimensión espiritual del paciente oncológico desde la bioética personalista

Abstract

Objetivo: Describir el significado de la dimensión espiritual desde la perspectiva del paciente oncológico, a la luz de la bioética personalista. Material y métodos: Las bases teóricas estuvieron cimentadas en diversas investigaciones, de las cuales se ha extraído sus mejores aportes. Se utilizó la metodología cualitativa descriptiva, utilizando como técnica de recolección de datos la entrevista semiestructurada. Los sujetos de investigación estuvieron conformados por varios pacientes con cáncer, dos médicos, dos enfermeras y un religioso. Se tuvo en cuenta los criterios de rigor científico y principios bioéticos de Elio Sgreccia. Resultados: Los pacientes con cáncer pasan por diversas facetas; van desde el rechazo total a la enfermedad hasta la aceptación de la misma, para lo cual es necesario el encuentro con un sustento existencial y trascendental. En este sentido, la espiritualidad juega un rol fundamental, permite encontrar equilibrio físico, psicológico y existencial. Conclusiones: El sistema de salud, por la poca formación en temas espirituales, descuida la atención de los pacientes en esta dimensión. Sin embargo, el trabajo realizado con las personas entrevistas, hace notar la necesidad de atención de esta realidad existencial porque ella permite mejorar el sentido de la enfermedad y de la vida, permitiendo sobredimensionar la existencia en este mundo

Objetive: To describe the meaning of the spiritual dimension from the perspective of the cancer patient, in the light of personalistic bioethics. Material and methods: The theoretical bases were based on several investigations, from which their best contributions havebeenextracted.Thequalitativedescriptive methodologywasused,usingsemi-structured interviews as a data collection technique. The research subjectswerecomprisedofseveralpatientswith cancer, two doctors, two nurses and one religious. The criteria of scientific rigor and bioethical principles of Elio Sgreccia were taken into account. Results: Patients with cancer go through several facets; Ranging from the total rejection of the disease to the acceptance of it, for which it is necessary to encounter an existential and transcendental sustenance. In this sense, spirituality plays a fundamental role; it allows finding physical, psychological and existential balance. Conclusions: The health system, due to the lack of training in spiritual subjects, neglects the attention of patients in this dimension. However, the work done with the interviewing people, points out the need for attention of this existential reality because it allows to improve the sense of illness and life, allowing to oversize the existence in this world.
