dc.description.abstract | Objetivo. | es_PE |
dc.description.abstract | Objective: To determine if there is some relationship between the history of chronic cholecystitis
or cholecystectomy and diagnosis of pre-morbid metabolic syndrome in “Life Reform” program
screened patients. Materials and Methods: A case-control study. 360 insured patients in EsSalud
were chosen, who were evaluated to detect pre-morbid metabolic syndrome (pre-MetS). 180 people
with pre-Mets (cases) and 180 people without pre-MetS (controls) were included. They were asked
about their history of chronic cholecystitis with or without cholecystectomy; in addition, data about
socio-demographical characteristics (age, gender), feeding and family history of cardiovascular
diseases were recollected. Results: 21 cases of chronic cholecystitis (5.8%) and 44 patients (12.2%)
who referred previous cholecystectomy were founded. No statistically significant association was
found between these conditions and the diagnosis of pre-morbid metabolic syndrome in the
multivariate model (OR: 0.81; 95%CI: 0.23-2.86, p=0.741), or the adjusted model by masculine sex
(OR: 1.12; 95%CI: 0.21-5.96, p=0.892). Conclusion: There is no significant relationship between
cholecystectomy or chronic cholecystitis and diagnosis of pre-morbid metabolic syndrome. | es_PE |
